Do horses need blankets in winter?

If you have a horse, please read this?great article by?Natalija Aleksandrova on the effects we can have on our horses? natural temperature regulation systems when we blanket them in winter. And please share this with your friends who have horses.

The article will probably also interest anyone who is concerned with the notion of offering our pets a life as closely matched to their natural requirements as possible. It is actually a good follow up to the previous post on this blog about dogs, cats, and leashes. Aside from the obvious lack of freedoms we impose on our pets, our actions in trying to assimilate them into our human world can have unintended (and often unknown to us until it?s too late) negative consequences on their physical and mental health.

In the comments section, please share what you have learned about and your experiences with ?species-appropriate pet-keeping?.
